KL - here I come again!!!!

KL is my favourite place to have my total relaxation and shopping spree. This time ma & pa came along. I chose Berjaya Times Square as this is not only Raymond but also my favourite hotel to stay. Not because they have wonderful service or extremely beautiful guest room. It is that is the most convinent hotel. I can spent my time in the hotel either swimming or go for a spa or simply just shop around. All under 1 roof.

This visit to KL coincide with my birthday and pa's too. So we both celebrated in our favourite restuarant. I chose Friday's and pa wanted pig's trotter, so we went to Da Ren restuarant.
We had a good time. I introduced Fish Therapy to ma & pa. It was really ticklish when you just put your feet in but you will eventually like the feeling and the after effect.

Look at them charging to eat our dead skin!!!

We went to KLCC too. It's a posh shopping center in KL.

Lunar New Year 2009

It always take me ages to do my blog. Luckily my noddy is still working well.

We garthered 2 days before New Year day. 1st aunt took the responsibility of wipping up dishes for the evening.

Here's what she had prepared:

I have to admit they were too good for any diet.......who cares.

Of course some pictures are important too.

Granny was abit HIGH that evening. She had some alchohol too.

Then on the eve, I went over to mom's place in the afternoon.

I prepared Yang Zhi Gan Lu for dessert. John and Jane loved it.

That evening, I went to my mom-in-law's place for reunion. I forgot to take picture cause the food was so delicious. She made dried abalone with fish maw, mushroom, etc. Too delicious for words.

All in a Pot

Don't know what to cook for dinner tonight. So I decided to put what I like all in a pot.

Loads of veges, seafood and fresh mushroom in a pot of stock. Let it boil and taste with salt.Done.
Simple, delicious, no oil and healthy. But it must go with a dip and I bought this soya sauce from Isetan supermart. It is really good.

The Gathering

Mom decided to have a gathering at her place, so all were invited. Also coincidentally, it was Da Gu Che's birthday too. So Mom prepared Laksa and Tumeric Chicken.

I also made some corn cakes for tea. I had done this for my school cooking club. But in this recipe, I added some tempura flour to the mixture to give a texture of crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. 4th uncle came with bags of durians and mangoesteens. So there goes their diet.....

Grandma, though saying she is not feeling good, but had enjoyed the food and had eaten more than she usually does.

Da Gu Che was delighted when she saw the durian cake. Imagine my family crazy over DURIAN......

We gathered around and sang "Happy Birthday" in 3 languages. They ended the day with their favourite karaoke session.

The Twins and A Good Big Brother

It's quick to see them grow and I am a Yiyi again. It's good to hear them calling me and telling me how happy they are when they recieve gifts that I sent over.

I also come to realise Elliott is a big boy now as to compare to his brothers.

Kuala Lumpur

I have been to KL many times, but it never strike my mind about taking pictures and putting up in the blog. Until recently, my friend enquire quite alot about the hotel and what I do. Usually, I go to KL to relax and we enjoy staying in Berjaya Times Square because they have everything under one roof. From restuarants to bowling to shopping to beauty..........blah, blah, blah.

The pool is fantastic too.................so we decided to try out our camera that we had bought for quite some time but no courage to try in water even though it claims that it is water proof. Hooray!!!! It works well and the camera is still in good condition.

And of course how can I miss the shopping and food...............

we tried street food..

Yum.........Yum.........

Then we went in search of Jalan Alor..............there are so many stalls and you need to have a very calm mind to decide what you want. The stall vendors just keep calling out and telling you what they have. But always ask about the price before putting in your order.

the bustling night of Jalan Bukit Bintang

Before we depart from KL, we saw Dr. Fish...............the very popular fishes nowadays which can eat up dead skin from our body but since it's alot cheaper in KL, we decided to give a try. My first try is a waste of money because it's too ticklish for me. However, after seeing the result, the second go is more encouraging.

Stir Fry

I have an expat friend asking me about stir fry. She mentioned that it's good to see so many kinds of greens in the supermart and she wanted to try doing stir fry.

Basically, before starting a stir fry. You need a wok. It can be single handle or double. It can be non stick, stainless steel or whatever so that you can find in the market nowadays.

Then you prepare the greens, making sure that the greens are almost drip dry. You do not want extra liquid from washing the greens. The greens itself will produce liquid when you cook them. But if you are stir frying root veges(eg: carrot), stems(eg: celery) or leaves(eg: cabbage), they do not produce much liquid or no liquid at all.

Now you make sure the wok is hot, pour in small amount of oil and some chopped garlic. Then put in the greens and stir them quickly till they are soften, Add salt and pepper to taste and is ready to serve.

Anyone can do stir fry. It is the easiest way to get food cook quickly. But of course, cleaning up the kitchen is the biggest headache........

2007 summer holiday

This summer I went to US to visit my sister, and of course, our family emperor. We had a jolly fun time togather.

We went to a couple of places. The best is at the farm plucking all the blue berries and raspberries. Our emperor is eating more than plucking. Whenever we put any of the berries in his pot, he will say "thank you".Then he will pick it up from his pot and put it into his mouth. Fresh berries is definately more delicious. I had great fun too.

And to Boston as well. We went to the Malaysian resturant to have lunch to celebrate my sis' birthday. Elliott loved the ice kacang. But before we left for Boston, we had the birthday cake at home. It was a lovely cake except for the icing.........extremely thick!!

"Happy Birthday to you...Happy Birthday to you....."

At Boston........

We had good food too.......

Some Chinese food

Mexican food.......

Lobster....
